In March of 2014, we quit our jobs, sold everything, and left our home in San Francisco with nothing but a one way ticket to Rome and a desire to travel just about everywhere. Since then we’ve visited over 90 different destinations around the world; from London and Paris, to Hong Kong and Bangkok... and (almost) everything in between!
We started No Destinations as a way to share our travel experiences and inspire others to get out and see the world. Whether it’s us swimming with sea turtles in the Maldives, sampling street food in Malaysia, or hiking a glacier in Iceland, our goal is to get people excited to explore new places, discover new cultures, and try new things.
The past 3 years of non-stop travel has been a wild ride for us, and we’re thrilled that we’ve been able to connect with so many people people who share our passion for traveling and discovery. To be honest, when we set off of this trip 3 years ago, we never would have imagined that this type of lifestyle would really be possible.
Why Did We Give Up Everything to Travel?
Surprisingly, "Why" we decided to do this is the question we are asked most frequently. But for us, the answer is simple; We quit because we were tired of always waiting; Waiting for the weekend. Waiting for our next vacation. Waiting for when we'd be in control of our time. So we decided to stop waiting and make a change — a drastic change. We quit our jobs, sold everything we owned, rented out our house, and bought a oneway ticket halfway around the world. That was 3 years ago, and now after traveling to over 125 places on 5 continents, we can honestly say that our wait is over, and we're living the life we’ve always dreamed about!
What Inspires Us To Keep on Traveling?
Curiosity. A curiosity about other places, other people, other food, other languages, and other ways of living life.
During our travels, our most inspirational moment was when we first arrived back in the United States over the Christmas holidays to visit friends and family that we had not seen in over 2 years. Stepping off the plane in Philadelphia, we realized how far we'd gone, how much we’d seen, and how much traveling had changed us. Yes, we were back “home”, but we knew that we were no longer the same people who had left.
Suddenly we understood the meaning behind the phrase we’ve heard many times before; "you can’t go home again" - and that realization made it clear to us; what we are most curious about is actually ourselves. We’d traveled all over the world and discovered many wonderful things, but the most amazing thing we discovered was that we have the ability to change who we are, and that inspires us to keep on traveling.
And we’re equally honored that our words and photographs have been featured by many leading news and travel publications like Travel & Leisure, BBC Travel, The Travel Channel, Beautiful Destinations, CNN, and many more.
