The Icon Hotel: A Modern Boutique Hotel In Prague

The ICON Hotel reflects a neighborhood where fashion, entertainment, business and shopping coexist in the historic city of Prague, Czech Republic.

After staying several days in the historic center of Prague, we were excited to get out and see what living in the actual city of Prague was like. The laid back yet stylish atmosphere of the ICON was surprisingly central to everything we wanted to do.

The ICON is located right in the city centre so you get more of a feel of typical Prague life versus mingling the hoards of tourists. Walking around the immediate area you'll find plenty of restaurants and cafes and of course shopping. We even loved that a lot of the restaurants in the area didn't have English menus, in a way it made us feel like we're in a more authentic atmosphere, you know, somewhere that the locals go.

Many parts of the hotel were stylish and chic due to the influence of Czech Design and seemed to appeal to a younger crowd...think neon lights and bright colours. The rotating art definitely added to the uniqueness of the property and was actually really beautiful. Although extremely comfortable, the design and feel of the hotel is more modern that luxury.

Although our room was small it was really well laid out and comfortable. All the rooms come with Hästens beds (I had never heard of them before) and were very comfortable. A big positive about the room was the ample amount of closet space. Usually I find that in small rooms the closets are extremely tiny, not the case with the ICON. Everything was hidden against a wall including the closet, mini bar and safe. We had more than enough room to unpack, hang our clothes and not feel cramped.

The one downside was that our room faced the street and we did hear a little bit of street traffic and people coming from nearby bars as they closed in the middle of the night, but hey that's what you get when you're in the city!

Always a fan of Boutique Hotels we checked out the Icon Hotel and loved the story, the design and comfortable beds!

Complimentary breakfast is served daily and has a great array of fresh fruit, cheese and meats and breads. You can also order an option from their menu as well. ROOM is their tapas bar located right off the lobby and is where breakfast is served. Although we only went there for breakfast I get the impression it is a hot spot during the evening and their cocktail selection looks good.

Many of the staff members have never worked in the hotels business before and that's how they like it. Instead the ICON Hotel focus on hiring those with great customer service skills and who are very knowledgeable. Kudos for having an awesome welcoming team!
