The Nanny Line: Barcelona's Flexible and Experienced Childcare

Get the best of both worlds by soaking in the experiences of Spain with your child during the day, and getting your alone time at night with a trusted and educated babysitter.

For those of you who have little ones of your own, you know how difficult it can be to leave them behind while you travel. On the other hand, traveling with children can pose plenty of challenges on its own and let’s be honest...it doesn’t usually fell like a vacation!  As many of you know, we love traveling with Axel, and we live to see the world through his eyes: his wonder at visiting new places, seeing his eyes light up by trying new foods, and meeting new people and other kids from around the world.

From the get-go, we have always planned on bringing Axel with us on trips to get him acclimated to travel and experiencing things at a young age. We want him to be open to different cultures, languages and places, but realistically, with a child in tow, something’s gotta give. And at the end of the day, we still do need some alone time!

While visiting Barcelona, we asked ourselves, “How can we get the best of both worlds?” Luckily for us, The Nanny Line exists exactly for this reason! They offer flexible babysitting services and come directly to your hotel or home. They are highly trusted and professional, and they allowed us to spend the days exploring with Axel and having the evenings to unwind and scope the city out on our own. We always look for personal recommendations for nanny services when traveling abroad, and The Nanny Line did not disappoint.

About The Nanny Line

Overall, we had a wonderful experience with this agency. First, you go to their website and have the option to choose which service you’d like. Whether it’s a full-time nanny, a night nanny, or someone who can tutor your child in your absence, they’ve got it all. Once you choose which type of assistance you need, they will provide you a list of recommended nannies, all of which have passed background checks and criminal screenings, and whose references and experiences have been verified. Another added bonus? All of the nannies are multilingual! It’s no wonder this business comes highly recommended by many of the hotels in the area, including Hotel Arts Barcelona, where we were staying.

The Nanny Line offers in-home and hotel services to accommodate both locals and guests. They know that your kids are the most precious thing to you, but also realize that sometimes the adults need some time to themselves. Also, life happens. Sometimes you have too much on your plate, or you just moved to the area and need someone to entertain the kids for a few hours while you unpack. They can take care of all of these circumstances- and the nannies can be booked an hour before you need them, so the flexibility is a bonus.

Their agency really goes above and beyond to put parents’ minds at ease and allow them to have alone time without feeling guilty or worrying about the child’s safety or wellbeing. Since all of the nannies are required to have at least three years of full-time professional childcare experience, and they’re each interviewed in person, you know you’re getting a great nanny who’s equipped with deal with any difficulties they might face with your child. And for this, we were so grateful!

About Our Experience

Once we chose our nanny, the agency coordinated a time for her to come each night so we could get out for a little. We were fortunate enough to receive the same nanny each night, but that’s not always possible. But, hey, it doesn’t hurt to ask! We were grateful once we knew that Axel had established a bond with her that she’d be back the next day, which put our minds at ease.

We were amazed with her from the start! She walked in to our hotel room, greeted us, then went straight to playing with Axel. He immediately took to her and started giggling and running around with her. Seeing this, we knew we could relax during our night out and that he’d be in great hands until we returned.

Our nanny was great and sent us text updates and pictures throughout the night. After playing with him, she fed Axel dinner, gave him and bath and put him to bed. (Might I add that this was one of the only nights he slept the whole time without waking up- this woman was magic!) We were immediately comfortable with the agency and with our nanny, so we had no trouble enjoying ourselves while we were out on the town.

If you’re traveling with your kids and you’re in Barcelona, Madrid or Ibiza, we highly recommend utilizing this nanny agency. Next time we’re in town with Axel, we will be sure to contact The Nanny Line for more stellar babysitting services.
